Our New House: The details make it special.

I love all the interesting details we have incorporated into the design of the house! The rustic combined with the traditional make our home warm and inviting. I add new details daily...it's my favorite part of design. :-) 

I love the simple look of cotton. 

We just bought these lamps yesterday! I love them. The burlap detail matches the burlap runner.

These are dried hydrangeas from our yard. The hubs made the box from a pallet. The only things I bought were the mason jars. I love free decor!

Our New House...The Dining Room

I LOVE a formal dining room! We never use it, but I still love it! Our dining room is almost finished. We are going add mason jar lanterns on each side of the window and add a few other special touches. But...basically it's finished!  Oh...and it's decorated for Christmas. :-)

The barn doors are awesome!

My hubby made these handles...inspired by the handles on a barn door at a local restaurant.

Our New House...The Yard

We haven't done anything to the yard yet...  I wanted to share some pictures because it is beautiful just the way it is! Most of the yard is wooded. Right now the leaves are beautiful!

Our New House...The Foyer!

So...we thought this was going to be an easy room. Wrong! This room took forever to complete...several weeks. However, it was well worth the effort! The foyer was beautiful before we did anything...high ceilings, beautiful staircase, and hardwood floors. It just needed a "special touch" to make it spectacular! We painted it a dramatic dark gray/blue and my husband added wainscoting. We plan to update the floors eventually. We will also add artwork/photos on the walls. Right now it's decorated for Christmas!

Our New House...The Living Room

We bought a new house! Isn't it cute! The house was built in the 1980s, so it was in need of a few updates. Fortunately, the previous owners had already started the process. They added granite in the kitchen and updated the appliances...two big expenses that I'm glad we don't have to worry about!

We started working in the living room first...since we spend the most time in that room. We painted and my husband added wainscoting. The wainscoting looks awesome! We also bought new furniture. We haven't added window treatments yet, but we are thinking about adding plantation shutters.
